Despite being a varied career, with excellent earning potential, young people often don’t know about the opportunities available to them.
That’s why our team recently went to speak to students at the West Midlands Combined Authority’s (WMCA) ‘Plant Careers Live’ event in Birmingham.
Kicking off National Apprenticeship Week, the event gave attendees the chance to learn more about construction industry roles, providing live demonstrations and plant simulation exercises.
The event was attended by West Midlands mayor, Andy Street, and drew in 1,000 16 to 18-year-olds who were keen to discover what the industry has to offer.
Amongst team McAuliffe were two of our apprentices, Francesca and Lewis, who spoke to students about their routes into the construction industry and gave their top tips for success.
Anna-Maria McAuliffe, director at McAuliffe Group, said: “It’s so important that we teach students about the huge variety of roles available in the construction industry.
“We have one of the UK’s largest in-house fleets of intelligent plant, and know what an interesting, well-paid career skilled operators can have.
“It’s brilliant that WMCA is organising events like this, and we hope to see more young talent entering the sector.”
